Gardens of the Dead— a minor mod that will add two new detailed biomes to the Nether — the Whistling Woods and the Soulblight Forest.

Soulblight Forest

The first biome that this mod adds is the Soulblight Forest. This is quite a spooky, but well-lit biome, which got its name after Soul Trees and Soul Soil, which can be found all over the biome. The biome is well by a new tree — the lesion. The tree consists of Soulblight logs and a lesion block, which builds the tree foliage. However, it’s not the lesion itself that glows, but the Shroomlight, which grows on almost all the lesion trees. You can turn Soulblight logs into gray boards. Then these boards can be used to craft steps, doors, gates, fences and so on.

But the most common plant of the new soulblight biome is Soul Spores. The Soul Spores are plants that can grow both up and down, but only on the Soul Soil and Soul Sand blocks. After a while, the Soul Spores ripen and turn into Glowing Soul Spores. This is another source of light. Besides, there are three other plants growing here — Crimson Fungus, Soulblight Fungus, and Soulblight Sprouts. These plants are just decorative for now.

Whistling Woods

The Whistling Woods resembles the Crimson Forest. The Whistling Woods soil consists of Crimson Nylium, with Crimson Roots and Warped Fungus growing everywhere. However, unlike the Crimson Forest, the Whistling Woods give home to new trees — the whistling ones. Whistling Trees have no foliage and look like crimson-painted bamboo. You can craft 2 whistling blocks of 4 whistling branches. Then, you can use this block to craft various wooden items — gates, doors, fences, steps and so on. Tall Blister Crown also grows in the Whistling Woods. This plant exists for decorative purposes only. In these woods common Low Blister Crown grows as well, which is also just a decoration.
