Any Minecraft player knows that there is an «infinite water source» that allows you to get three blocks from two by just pouring them diagonally. These mechanics are used in almost all versions of the game and allows you to quickly create your farms, lay irrigation paths, make cool greenhouses with automatic systems, and do many other things. But there are also those who don’t like infinite water springs, as they are far from reality. These players should pay attention to the Finite Water mod. It will change the standard Minecraft mechanics, and water in the game will become finite like all other blocks.
The Finite Water mod makes water resources limited, and any blocks installed diagonally will no longer generate new springs. You may not notice this in large worlds, but you’ll immediately see the changes in small water reservoirs. However, this is a very primitive usage, because you can install this add-on for other purposes, which we’ll talk about further.
How does the mod work? Unlike before when you could install 2 water blocks diagonally and get an infinite water source, now it has become impossible. If you take a water block with a bucket, it won’t restore any longer, so in fact now you can someday theoretically run out of liquid in the Minecraft world. However, locations and maps in cubic world are now so huge that it’s almost impossible, even if you use the Finite Water mod. The mechanics are interesting, and it will help some players a lot, as it allows you to use certain tricks, which we’ll talk about further…
What is the advantage of the Finite Water mod? You can use it to drain seas, rivers, and any water biomes quickly, if you don’t have sponges. Water won’t be generated now, so, you can use a large number of buckets to drain any water biome. Quite often, players try to make a home somewhere deep in the sea or above it, taking the lower layer as well. And to start the building process, they have to clear a part of the territory. At the start of the common survival in the vanilla version, sponges are hard to find, but you’ll have no problems with this add-on.
Another idea is realistic Minecraft. If you want to turn the game into a real survival simulator, resembling our everyday life, you should have the Finite Water add-on in your assembly. Currently, there are hundreds or even thousands of mods created for realistic gameplay in Minecraft, and some of them have the same functions, but this add-on is a real must-have. The mod is available for Minecraft 1.20.1, and it works with Forge loader, so you can install this add-on in a couple of clicks and get the functions you want.
In the screenshots, we’ve shown what will happen to water if you install two blocks diagonally. In the vanilla version of Minecraft, they used to connect and form endless springs, but now you can see that they just flow in different directions. We’ve made a few options so that you can see how this add-on works.
In general, this is all we can say about the Finite Water mod. If you still have any questions, ask them in the comments and we’ll do our best to answer them. The mod starts working automatically right after a new world has been generated. But at the same time, there are other mods that affect the game physics, and by installing them you can adjust, for example, the water flow direction, its density, types, physics, and behavior under different conditions. Dozens of major add-ons have been developed for this purpose, which you can also read about on our resource.
