There is a wide range of different biomes in Minecraft, but most of them are similar. Another significant problem is a poor generation, which the Mojang developers seem to be working on, but they still can’t fine-tune it. But this isn’t necessary, because players have different opinions about this aspect of the game: some like high mountains, others like wide rivers, and some generally prefer canyons. You can’t satisfy all the players. Therefore, dozens of different mods appear to change the standard generation principle of biome and particular sites in Minecraft. And if you’ve been looking for such a tool for a long time, meet Epic Terrain!
The Epic Terrain add-on changes the standard game landscape and brings it closer to real conditions. Now, there will be no sudden changes, fragments of territories, or such situation when we look at a sandy biome and suddenly see the ground. There are more realistic landscapes, mountains, smooth height differences, and transitions between biomes. You can see a lot of hills, mountains, long and wide rivers, or seas. There will also be cliffs, canyons and so on. As soon as you enter a newly generated map, you’ll see the changes right away, as they affect almost all biomes available in Minecraft, and the developer of Epic Terrain has done a great job to recreate these landscapes!
To see all the changes, you’ll need to create a new map, since you won’t be able to change anything with previously generated biomes. Creating a new map with Epic Terrain will take a little longer, but you will hardly notice it, especially on a powerful PC that instantly performs all the actions in Minecraft. According to the developer, he has been playing Minecraft for a long time, but he missed realism, so he decided to rework all the standard generation principles and add his own version. Not all biomes are involved so far, and he’s working in this direction. But even now you can see changes in many locations.
For example, look at the mountains. They have become more voluminous, but at the same time this landscape gets smooth transitions and height differences. You won’t stand near the blocks and install new ones to climb to the next mountain cliff: everything is done as smoothly as possible so that the player can easily travel around the biome. Indeed, there are certain areas with chasms, but this is done on purpose, and in real life everything is about the same. The mountains have become higher. These can be huge ridges, stretching for hundreds of blocks in all directions. And if you build some kind of house inside them, for example, you’ll get a very good structure, especially considering its colorful design.
We’ve made a variety of screenshots for you to show how mountains differ from each other in different biomes, for example, in snowy or savannah areas. Here, there may be ridges and ascents as well that look as realistic as possible. The standard version of Minecraft has no such generation, so the Epic Terrain mod is definitely worth installing to see what changes it brings to the game world! Any terrain will have transitions not only in height, but in blocks as well. For example, a grass biome turns into a pile of stones, then into iron deposits, cliffs, canyons, and caves.
If it’s a savannah, for example, the trees will be further from each other, although they can grow both on the mountain and on the plains. And this is a significant advantage, because the generation system used to be limited to some flat territories, although the savannah biome is very beautiful due to acacia. Rivers that connect different locations can pass through the entire biome territory. Which is also as realistic as possible. There used to be some scraps of aquatic biomes in Minecraft before, and if you’re sailing a boat, there’s always the possibility that you’ll have to cover some distance on foot. In Epic Terrain, aquatic biomes are mostly interconnected.
This generation looks as cool as possible! You can build a house next to a river or a mountainous area, and if you make it look not as a «box», but as a correct architectural item, then this generation system will transform any building and complement this colorful look. Epic Terrain will be a real godsend for map makers, since many users had to manually change many parameters in online editors or programs before. Here, a beautiful generation is created without your actions, and all the player needs to do is to easy install the mod in their build!
Take a look at the screenshots we’ve posted here. This is a large forest, where almost all vegetation is green. But at the same time, we aren’t in the jungle, as you might think: the generation of the Epic Terrain mod creates beautiful thickets, forests, meadows, connects all territories and makes smooth transitions. And this is just one of the few options that awaits you after installing the map. It looks as bright and unusual as possible. Compared to the vanilla mechanics, the territory generation is by hundreds of times better here. We’ve posted more screenshots for you, although it’s difficult to convey all the excitement and emotions. So it’s better to try once and see with your own eyes!
As far as the jungle is concerned, you can also take a look at how bamboo forests are generated now, and that’s how it should be if you wanted them to look like in real life. The jungle has generally been transformed in Minecraft, which is a great merit of the developer of Epic Terrain. If we talk about the jungle, the biome can be small or large, although in standard Minecraft it has always been artificially stretched! In general, try installing this mod and explore new biomes. We have added images for only 5% of those territories that are waiting for you after installing the add-on. This mod has been downloaded only 17,000 times at the moment, but it will most likely end up in many top builds in the future!
