Biome Backlog — is a small mod developed to bring a bit of changes into the game, adding 3 mobs and some new plants to the game.

Ostriches

The first change that this mod introduces is ostriches. Now, the savannah biome will become much more diverse, because it is where ostriches now live. In this mod, ostriches look rather harmless, but they will severely fight back with their powerful legs and neck when provoked. However, their aggression isn’t the only problem, since ostriches almost always survive in groups and attack together as well in case of danger. An ostrich can deal up to 5 damage points per kick, and its powerful legs sometimes make it difficult to escape from an ostrich. Ostriches are rather useful as cattle, because they can give you both their skin and meat. You can fry raw ostrich meat and get a more satisfying meal.

You can breed ostriches using wheat. When breeding, one of the ostriches drops a large egg, from which an ostrich nestling will soon appear. You shouldn’t interrupt the growth process of an ostrich, because it will make all the nearby ostriches attack you. When an ostrich lives in the desert, it will get another feature — hide its head in the sand.

Vultures

The second new mob is a vulture. Vultures have 22 health points and look rather scary. However, the player shouldn’t be afraid of a vulture — they hunt dead flesh, that is, zombies. It’s quite easy for a vulture to deal with a crowd of zombies, but they won’t touch the player even when provoked. A vulture drops only a certain amount of experience when it dies. That is, you need vultures not for meat, but to protect your territory. You can use rotten flesh to breed them and attract their attention.

Meerkat

The desert will also become much more diverse, primarily thanks to new mobs — meerkats. A meerkat has 12 health points, looks unusual, and is very small. Despite their harmless look, meerkats are aggressive but won’t touch you if you are completely neutral. Meerkats will burrow into the sand from time to time, making it their home. You shouldn’t disturb them by breaking blocks or getting them out of there, because this will make all the meerkats around become aggressive towards you. Despite their low health and damage levels, a large crowd of them can defeat almost anyone due to their high attack speed. A meerkat drops only a certain amount of experience when it dies.

Plants

Another thing that will make the desert a much more interesting place is a new tree that will grow only in the desert. You can use palm wood to make palm boards. Both the palm boards and the wood have one unique feature — arrows will ricochet from it. There are also coconuts growing on palm trees, which will ripen and fall to the ground after a while. You can collect the fallen coconuts and break them to get food.

In addition to vultures, there is a «tumbleweed» in the wasteland that can cause damage. Now, you can also find pear cacti in the wasteland. Pear cacti can cause damage, so they are dangerous.
